Limit Switches

A limit switch is a device used to detect and/or measure movement of industrial equipment such as Electronic Overhead Travelling gantry cranes (EOT’s) within a predetermined distance or travel. Providing accurate positional information to interfaces such as PLCs. Limit Switches are crucial to the safe operation and protection of electrically driven equipment.

Base Rotary Limit switches are used in an extremely wide range of applications from “top limits” on overhead cranes and hoists to position sensors on roller shutter doors. With a maximum of 4 snap action switches and ratios ranging from 1:15 to 1:1500 all with IP protection from IP42 to IP69K, the Base Rotary Limit switch is an excellent choice particularly when space is at a premium.

LimitEX Rotary and Cross Limit Switches conform to ATEX Standard EN60079 and are used in an extremely wide range of applications from “top limits” on overhead cranes and hoists to position sensors on roller shutter doors. With a maximum of 4 snap action switches and ratios ranging from 1:15 to 1:1500 all with IP66 protection, the LimitEX Limit switch is an excellent choice particularly for explosive environments.

Fox Rotary Limit switches are suitable for use in safety critical applications. Available in ratios ranging from 1:3 to 1:2800 with snap action and slow action switch options, they can also be fitted with TER ‘Yankee’ encoders, either absolute or incremental, for use with PLC controls. Fox Rotary Limit switches are used in applications from wind turbines to theatrical stage equipment.

Oscar is a device used to control the movement of industrial machinery when in need of measuring the movement on the basis of the rotation angle and/or of the number of shaft revolutions. Oscar is made up by a gearmotor which transfers the movement to the cams and to the other movement detection devices placed inside it through a primary input reduction step.

Top is a rotary limit switch used to control the movement of industrial machinery. It operates as an auxiliary controller of electrical motors through a power interface, such as a contactor or PLC. Suitable for heavy duty, its shaft is connected to the motor and, after a set number of revolutions, the cams operate the switches, thus starting the predetermined movement. A worm gear and a helical toothed gear combined with one or more pairs of straight toothed gears are used for the transmission of the movement from the input shaft to the output shaft.

The X-FSC positions limit switches have 'T' or 'Cross' rods which may move to 3 or 4 maintained positions, while the X-FRZ X-FCS positions limit switches feature a single rod or a rod with roller with spring return movements. These limit switches are equipped with 1NO+1NC snap action.

7551 and 7552 position limit switches are designed for the control of complex operating machinery. As they are control auxiliaries, they act on a power interface. The choice of materials, technical solutions and ample size make these limit switches ideal for use in strongly aggressive environments where they are exposed to the most severe operating conditions, guaranteeing impeccable function at all times and for their entire life.

Tango is a position limit switch designed to control overhead travelling cranes, hoists and machine tools. It operates as auxiliary controller of electrical motors through power interfaces, such as contactors or PLCs.

X-type rods can move to 4 maintained positions. Tango is equipped with 1NC slow action switches or, upon request, with 1NO switches. All switches are of the positive opening type, thus suitable for safety functions.
