Steel Drag Chains
![]() Metreel's Steel range of Drag Chains are designed to suit heavy duty applications, providing protection and support for the safe conveyance of cables and hoses feeding reciprocating machines. An important feature of Drag Chains is the ability to carry electricity, gases and fluids simultanoeusly in any combination to suit the application. Other features include:

![]() All STANDARD Drag Chain links are produced from 80,000 PSI steel and bright zinc plated. Pivot pins are hardened to 60 RC and also bright zinc plated. When re quired all chains can be supplied in Stainless Steel. Nylon anti-friction washers between chain links reduce friction and also protect the pivot pins against dirt/moisture ingress. Link Plates are joined together via a unique pin asssembly utilising a special snap on connector which has been proven in tests to be the ideal solution, combining strength and durability. A further feature of this link pin design is the ability to assemble the ideal irrespective of component tolerances.

![]() LOOP AT BOTTOM (A) Two-way payout, centre fed. Both fixed and moving ends to be supported by a backing plate extending a minimum of 4 link pitches along the drag chain. Normal travel limited to twice the unsupported length, according to cable/hose weight.
![]() LOOP AT TOP (B) Two-way payout, centre fed. Both fixed and moving ends to be supported by a backing plate extending a minimum of 4 link pitches along the drag chain. Normal travel limited to equal the unsupported length, according to cable/hose weight.
![]() LIFT The drag chain is a compressed 'S' shape for a low mounting height. SSelected when the application restricts the mounting configuration. One-way payout, end fred. Vertical retaining walls extending the full height of the dag chain in its stored position are required. Lower section, fully supported. Normal travel is limited to twice the unsupported lengthm according to cable/hose weight.
![]() STANDARD TRAVEL Two-way payout, centre fed. Upper section self-supporting lower section fully supported. Normal travel is limited to twice the unsupported length, according to cable/hose weight. ![]() OPPOSED TRAVEL Two opposing Drag Chains seperated by a predetermined distance to allow for cable/hose entry at bothe ends. Selectred to reduce width requirements of a Standard Drag chain or increase operating life by distributing payload weight within two individual drag chains. ![]() STANDARD EXTENDED TRAVEL - one support roller Normal travel is limited to three times the unsupported length, according to cable/hose weight. Two-way payout, centre fed. Lower section fully supported. ![]() STANDARD EXTENDED TRAVEL - Two support rollers Normal travel is limited to four times the unsupported length, according to cable.hose weight. Two-way payout, centre fed. Lower section fully supported. ![]() ONE-WAY TRAVEL One-way payout, end fed Upper section is self supporting or may use support roller(s). Lower section fully supported. Normal travel options are limited to one, one and a half and two times the unsupported length, according to cable/hose weight. ![]() DOUBLE NESTED TRAVEL Two drag chains having different bend radii with one nested within the other, an ideal solution for reducing system width to a minimum. Both upper sections are self supporting. Both lower sections are fully supported. Two-way payout, centre fed. ![]() MULTIPLE BAND Multiple installation comprising standard travel or standard extended travel option.
![]() HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL TRAVEL Upper section, self-supporting. Lower section, fully supported.
![]() SIDE MOUNTED - Standard Travel The drag chain is positioned on it's side, running on sliders or castors utilising a continuous supporting steel tray. Selected to reduce height requirements, extended travel and/or distribute the drag chain load over a greater support area for an improved life expectancy. Two-way payout, centre fed. Normal travel is limited to four times the unsupported length, according to cable/hose weight - Longer travel options are available. ![]() SIDE MOUNTED - Circular Travel Drag chains are able to flex in both directions for rotating applications. The total displacement should not exceed 360 degrees. The drag chain operated on it's edge with carriers standing vertically with supported by Nylatron sliders or castors. Links require a reverse bend radii to operate in this configuration. The drag chain requires a tray and is limited to a maximum rotational speed of 15m/min.
