Metreel has partnered with agRE.tech to deliver an innovative autonomous farming infrastructure designed to reshape the future of agriculture and sustainability.
The collaboration aims to tackle critical global issues by improving food security, generating clean energy and combating climate change.
At the centre of the project is agRE.tech’s Autonomous AgriPV Robotic Farm, also known as A²PV. The system leverages robotics, solar energy, manipulators, sensors, controlled PV panels and artificial intelligence (AI) to perform fundamental agricultural tasks, without human intervention.
Adaptive and efficient, the A²PV is capable of weeding, pruning, spraying, harvesting and more. It features real-time data and software-driven insights to ensure accurate and reliable task execution.
Metreel stepped in during the early design phase. Metreel designed and manufactured a custom Met-Track® workstation bridge crane to support the A²PV’s movement. The bespoke crane moves with precision along a mapped path, integrating seamlessly with the advanced technology.
Solar panels mounted on the structure provide renewable energy to power the crane. In addition to the farming tasks, the A²PV system cleans and maintains the solar panels.
The A²PV network of sensors, AI, software and data analysis tools positions the infrastructure to instantly respond to changes in crop conditions, weather, soil and other environmental factors. The autonomous capabilities and sustainable features help farmers adapt to environmental shifts and market demands.
Moreover, it empowers farmers to maximise resources, including land, people, technology and AI.
Metreel is one of many partners contributing to the innovative agRE.tech project. Other key collaborations include EDF Energy, A. Henefeld and Zemach. With their expertise, agRE.tech has been able to deliver a transformative and sustainable agricultural infrastructure.
