Aggregate Supplier – Reels

The original request by our client was for further information on a suitable drag chain. System. Although, due to potential damage to a drag chain system by falling aggregates, the dusty environment and the lack of space for a supporting tray, we suggested that cable reels would be the preferable Power feed method.

We worked closely with our customer and the fabricator of the telescopic ship loading conveyor to provide a suitable reeling solution for this harsh, dockside environment, providing concept sketches and other information to demonstrate methods and principles of operation.

Metreel’s STAR® Cable Reels with special ‘Marine Duty’ paint was selected for the application and fitted to the fixed part of the conveyor boom feeding the motors on the moving telescopic section.

Following supply, Metreel provided ‘Site Specific’ recommendations on the care and service of the reels for the customer to build into their maintenance schedule for the conveyor system in general.
