Greencore Homes is leading the homebuilding industry with sustainable, innovative buildings. Based in Oxfordshire, they are committed to building homes with low-carbon, high-quality construction and as a result, their operational workflow is fast-paced.
Forklifting panels to and from work areas was proving to be an ineffective method of transportation. Materials and products were being damaged, and as staff kept up with workflow demands, it quickly became a safety risk.
Greencore Homes recognised that this method was unsustainable and contacted Metreel for a long-term lifting solution.

Met-Track® workstation bridge cranes
Solution
Initially, Greencore Homes enquired about a ceiling-mounted Met-Track® workstation bridge crane system. After Metreel conducted a site visit, it was identified that the proposed system was not possible. Working closely with Greencore Homes, Metreel designed a bespoke workstation crane system.
Metreel designed, manufactured, and installed three Met-Track® workstation bridge cranes. All cranes featured a 500kg safe working load (SWL) and powered travel with electric festoon bridges. Maximum floor space for task fluidity was crucial, and with this in mind, Metreel designed a special crane to provide this.
Metreel designed a custom double Met-Track® workstation bridge crane. Spanning 20 metres and fitted with a heavy-duty beam, this unique system eliminates the three support beams. The removal of the beams frees up floor space in Greencore Homes’ facility, ensuring no interference with their existing infrastructure.
The Met-Track® workstation bridge cranes have revolutionised Greencore Homes’ operational workflows. The three cranes manage high-traffic areas within their operations, accelerating task delivery and resulting in significant productivity and efficiency.
